The rock point load test refers to a simple test to obtain the compressive strength of the rock by applying pressure to the rock sample with a point load instrument until the rock sample fails. In this test, the rock sample is placed between the two ball-end cones of the point load instrument, and a vertical concentrated load is applied until the sample fails.
