Grading of Aggregate : The strength of aggregate depends upon grading of aggregates. The grading of particles are being carried out by sieve analysis. For specific grading, the % of fine aggregates to coarse aggregate is determined knowing F.M. values of coarse aggregate and fine aggregate. A well graded aggregate will provide following advantages.
(i) It gives more strength.
(ii) It does not show the sign of bleeding or segregation.
(iii) It provides more workability.
Grading of Aggregate will result in good quality of concrete and economy such as
(1) Reduction of the cement content.
(2) Reduction in water requirement.
(3) Reduction of drying shrinkage.
