When the reactors are connected in series with each feeder they are known as feeder reactor. In case of fault on any one feeder all the generator feed the fault current through only one reactor and hence the value of reactor X required will be higher than that of generator reactor.
During the fault on any one Feeder the voltage of the common bus bar does not go to zero but will be at the value depending upon the voltage in the reactor. This may avoid the generator to loose synchronism.
Disadvantages :
There is a constant voltage drop and power loss in the reactor even during normal operation.
If the fault occurs at the bus bar no protection is provided for the generator
