Vapour Absorption Refrigeration System has vapour (fairly dry) leaving the evaporator at low pressure is passed to the absorber in the refrigeration system where it is absorbed by the weak solution coming from the generator. Due to the absorption of ammonia vapor, the latent heat of vaporization and the heat of solution are evolved raising the temperature of the solution. This Working Vapour Absorption Refrigeration System has so many facts Read more ….
Vapour Absorption Refrigeration System kept cold by circulating cool water through it so that the absorbing capacity of water does not fall since at high temperatures it absorbs less ammonia. The strong solution of ammonia is then pumped into the generator at high pressure (about 10 kg/cm) where it is heated by the steam or heating coils so that ammonia is vaporized.
The ammonia vapour is now passed on to the condenser where it is condensed or liquid to high pressure liquid ammonia. The liquid ammonia is returned to the receiver or storage tank from where it passes on to an expansion valve where the high temperature is reduced.
The cold, low pressure ammonia is then evaporated into the evaporator where it collects its latent heat of evaporation from the brine solution or other articles to be cooled.
The ammonia vapour coming out of the evaporator is almost dry and is allowed to mix with the weak solution returned to the absorber by the generator. Thus, the cycle is complete. This Vapour Absorption Refrigeration System factors also mention in many blogs so refer more blogs.
This system is an improvement on the vapour compression system which requires a compressor to compress large volume of vapour. The large compressors require large power to operate them. This system reduces the volume of the vapour before it is condensed by absorbing greater amount of the vapour in the liquid called as absorbent.
The reduced volume or bulk of the system would require small power to operate it.This system has a least number of moving parts. We are quite in operation and are used both in commercial as well as in domestic installation.
In recent years, We have been used extensively in recreation vehicles, camper-trailers and boats as portable units due to their operation from a small gas cylinder. It is a heat operated unit which uses a refrigerant that is alternately absorbed and liberated by the absorbent.
The simple vapour absorption system is shown in fig. in which an absorber, pump, a generator and expansion valve replace the compressor of a vapour compression system. Numerous combinations of fluids are used in this system, but the combination of ammonia and water is most commonly used in the absorption refrigerators. The solution used is called as aqua ammonia
