When the reactors are connected in series with cash generator they are known as Generator Reactor.
In this case the reactor may be considered as a part of leakage reactance of generator. Hence it effect is to protect the gener in case of any S.C.
Disadvantages
There is a constant voltage drop and power loss in the reactors even during normal operation.
In the event of fault the voltage of common bus bar reduced to zero which will accelerates the generator leading to instability and generator may loose synchronism.
